BrainWare, OpenEx und RPvds von Tucker-Davis Technologies
BrainWare software is a versatile package for the presentation of signals (e.g. auditory, visual, or electrical stimulation) and extracellular recording. Multi-channel spike acquisition and flexible analysis make BrainWare a valuable addition to your neurophysiology toolbox.
OpenEx is a suite of software applications that provides a complete environment for designing and controlling experiments. RPvds gives you the power to configure real-time DSP circuits without any DSP or programming experience. Cogent 2000 für MatLab von FIL London
Cogent 2000 is a MatLab Toolbox for presenting stimuli and recording responses with precise timing. It runs in the MatLab numerical programming environment and should be used with MatLab 6.0 and above, running under Windows 2000.


DMDX oder DM/DMTG von Display Master (DMASTR)
These programs were written for IBM compatible PCs by K. I. Forster and J. C. Forster at the University of Arizona. The software is designed for the measurement and analysis of reaction times in language processing tasks, such as lexical decision, naming, picture naming, RSVP, masked priming, same-different matching, semantic categorization, self-paced reading, etc.

PsyScope is an integrated enviroment for designing and running psychology experiments on Macintosh computers. The primary goal of PsyScope is to give psychology students and trained researchers, alike, a tool that allows them to design experiments without the need for programming. PsyScope relies on the interactive, graphic environment provided by Macintosh computers to accomplish this goal. The standard components of a psychology experiment - groups, blocks, trials and factors - are all represented graphically, and experiments are constructed by working with these elements in interactive windows and dialogs.
PsyScope development has ceased and the program is not updated for new versions of the operating system. However, several users are currently involved in a project designed to update PsyScope for MacOSX. If you are interested in this project, please go to the page maintained by Luca Bonatti.

The Psychophysics Toolbox is a free set of MatLab functions for vision research. It interfaces between MatLab and the computer hardware. The Psychtoolbox's core routines provide access to the display frame buffer and color lookup table, allow synchronization with the vertical retrace, support millisecond timing, and facilitate the collection of observer responses. Ancillary routines support common needs like color space transformations and the QUEST threshold seeking algorithm. The Showtime extension (formerly called "QT") makes it easy to save dynamic stimuli as QuickTime movie files that can be displayed on the web.

PyEPL (the Python Experiment-Programming Library) is a Python library which allows cross-platform and object-oriented coding of psychology experiments. It provides functions for displaying text and images onscreen, as well as playing and recording sound, and is capable of rendering 3D virtual environments for spatial-navigation tasks. It interfaces with Activewire USB cards for synchronization of experimental events with physiological recordings. It is currently tested for Mac OS X and Linux.

STIM von NeuroScan
Stim is a combination of hardware and software which can present audio and visual stimuli to subjects. The system is fully programmable and allows for any imaginable combination of stimuli. TTL outputs guarantee synchronisation with EEG/EP workstations, but the software can also be used stand-alone for psychological evaluations.


SigPlay von Tucker-Davis Technologies
SigPlay provides an easy to use Windows interface for presenting auditory stimuli. SigPlay can control your entire experiment by providing a trigger to your data collection system or you can choose to control the SigPlay system with an external trigger source.


Stimscope
Stimscope is an experiment generator. It is a software package initially developed for psychology experiments. But it can be used for experiments in other fields of study as well. Stimscope can present visual stimuli on screen and will record responses and timings. Stimscope is especially useful for making delayed matching tasks with a 2 alternatives forced choice (2AFC). This means a picture is shown on screen, then a second one is presented. The subject has to make a response following the second picture.

StimulDX is based on Microsofts DirectX API. It will be available for free in the near future.


SuperLab Pro von Cedrus
SuperLab Pro is an experimental lab software for building experiments, running them on subjects, and collecting data. You can use it to build most types of experiments that require presenting visual stimuli on the screen, auditory stimuli via speakers, controlling or synchronizing with lab equipment such as fMRI, EEG, shutters, and so forth. The collected data, which includes reaction time, is saved in text-only file which can be read by almost all spreadsheet or statistics software.


VisionShell PPC von R. Comtois
The Vision Shell package was created with the goal of providing a programming environment in which programs used for scientific experimentation are easy to create and run on the Macintosh. The Vision Shell hides many of the Macintosh programming intricacies by setting up a standard environment in which to conduct experiments. The VideoToolbox is a collection of two hundred C subroutines and several demo and utility programs for visual psychophysics with Macintosh computers. It should be useful to anyone who wants to present accurately specified visual stimuli or use the Mac for psychometric experiments.

It can selectively present feedback to the user based on their response(s). It can present a summary of all participants' responses to each user. It filters out respondent's resubmissions and allows only access to respondents from the domain(s) you specify.
SplayPicts is a tachistoscope Macintosh software for visual psychophysics experiments.
MultiSound is a psychoacoustic experiment delivery software for the Amiga microcomputer.
